Lieux de culte en Gaule du Sud (IIe s. av. J.-C.-Ve s. ap. J.-C.) (2016-2018)

Ce projet (2016-2018) a pour but l’inventaire des lieux de culte d’époque romaine (IIe s. av.J.C.-Ve s. ap. J.-C.) sur le territoire de l’antique Gaule Narbonnaise. L’arc chronologique retenu va de la création de la province à la disparition du paganisme. Ce projet vise à combler le « retard » pris par la recherche relative aux cultes et aux lieux de culte en France du Sud. Le but de ce projet est la publication d’un atlas exhaustif de ces lieux de culte, dans la tradition des inventaires déjà menés par ASM. Cet Atlas présentera des notices détaillées de chaque site ainsi que différentes synthèses.
Ce projet s’appuie sur un PCR déjà existant, qui bénéficie du travail d’une équipe pluridisciplinaire, comprenant des chercheurs d’ASM et de plusieurs institutions (MCC, INRAP, collectivités territoriales).
Un colloque international viendra clore ce projet.

This project (2016-2018) aims to create an inventory of places of worship in Roman times (2nd century BC- 5th century AD) on the territory of ancient Narbonese Gaul. The chronological arch chosen stretches between the creation of the province and the disappearance of paganism. This project aims to bridge the "backwardness" of research on religions and places of worship in southern France. The aim of this project is the publication of an exhaustive atlas of these places of worship, in the tradition of the inventories already carried out by ASM. This Atlas will present detailed records of each site as well as various syntheses.

This project is based on an already existing PCR, which benefits from the work of a multidisciplinary team, including researchers from ASM and several institutions (MCC, INRAP, local authorities).

An international symposium will conclude this project.
