SIGSaqqara
Situé sur la rive ouest du Nil, à une trentaine de kilomètres environ au sud du Caire, le site archéologique de Saqqâra abrite l'une des plus importantes nécropoles royales et civiles d'Égypte rattachées à la ville de Memphis.
Le projet "SIGSaqqara" a pour ambition de comprendre la logique de l'occupation à Saqqâra des origines à la fin de l'Ancien Empire. Pour répertorier et localiser les différentes structures identifiées, un système d'information géographique (SIG) devra être créé.
Le projet a également pour second objectif de mettre à disposition du grand public comme des spécialistes les données recensées en diffusant en ligne l'outil alors mis en place.
Located on the West bank of the Nile, about thirty kilometers south of Cairo, the archaeological site of Saqqara houses to one of the most important royal and civil necropolises of Egypt annexed to the city of Memphis.
The project "SIGSaqqara" aims to understand the logic of occupation at Saqqara from the origins to the end of the Old Kingdom.
A dedicated geographic information system (GIS) will be created in order to list and locate the various identified buildings.
The second purpose of the project is to give both the general public and experts access to the recorded data by making the implemented GIS available online.
