DeMExpo - Exposition du Centenaire des fouilles et recherches françaises à Deir el-Médina (1917-2017) (2017)

À l’occasion du centenaire des fouilles françaises à Deir el-Médina (1917-2017), le LabEx ArcHiMedE et l’Institut Français d’Archéologie Orientale organisent en décembre 2017 une exposition mettant en valeur une sélection d’objets provenant du site, conservés au Musée Égyptien du Caire. Il s’agit de présenter aux chercheurs comme au grand public des artéfacts découverts durant les fouilles de l’habitat et des tombes des artisans qui ont construit les sépultures thébaines des pharaons du Nouvel Empire, en parallèle avec des archives de l’IFAO. Le matériel exposé illustre les différents aspects des pratiques religieuses et funéraires de la vie de ces artisans ainsi que des travaux de terrain et études menées par l’IFAO pendant un siècle.
On the occasion of the centenary of the French excavations at Deir el-Medina (1917-
2017), the LabEx ArcHiMedE and the French Institute of Eastern Archeology will organise in December 2017 an exhibition highlighting a selection of objects from the site, preserved at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The aim is to present to archaeologists and the general public artefacts discovered during excavations of the habitat and tombs of the craftsmen who built the Theban sepultures of the Pharaohs of the New Kingdom, in parallel with IFAO archives. The exhibits illustrate the different aspects of religious and funerary practices in the lives of these artisans, as well as the fieldwork and studies carried out by the IFAO over a century.
